2020 Annual Meeting Cancelled
After careful and thoughtful consideration, the Tri-County Electric Cooperative Board of Directors has cancelled the organization’s 2020 annual meeting, due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The annual meeting was originally scheduled for Saturday, July 11th, 2020.
In accordance with our bylaws, board members whose terms expired will continue in office until their successors shall have been elected and qualified, which is planned for the next Annual Meeting of members, scheduled for July 10th, 2021.
“This is not a decision that our board took lightly,” explained Greg Vieira, Tri-County Electric Board President. “The board postponed the event earlier in the year with hopes that the conditions surrounding the pandemic would improve. However, based upon the data in our community and regulations surrounding gatherings, we had to make the difficult decision to cancel. Our top priority is the safety and health of our members and employees.”
“We want our members to know that Tri-County Electric Cooperative’s critical business operations continue without interruption,” says Marcia Scott, Tri-County Electric Cooperative General Manager. “We’re not only looking out for the best interest of our members and the public but also taking careful and necessary steps to ensure the health and well-being of our employees so we can continue meeting the needs of our members through this period of uncertainty.”
Tri-County Electric Cooperative’s commitment to our members and our community remains strong, and our employees, in all areas of our cooperative, continue to work to provide safe and reliable electricity while properly social distancing.
Canceling the meeting was disappointing for the board and TCEC employees.
Like you, everyone at TCEC enjoys seeing friends and the many activities included with the annual meeting. Until we can meet in person again, stay safe and stay healthy.
